October 29, 1656 Edmund Halley was born in Shoreditch, England. Edmund Halley comes from a
wealthy family. At age fifteen, he
became the captain of Saint Paul's School.
When he was seventeen Edmund went to Queen’s college in Oxford.Halley attended Queen’s to major in astronomy when he entered; Edmund was already very knowledgeable in astronomy.

Edmund started to work with John Flamsteed, who also studied astronomy. Edmund Halley didn’t finish his academic journey through college, but he was thought to be one of the top astronomers of his time for this reason Oxford decided to give him a degree without taking any tests.
Edmund Halley is most well-known for the comet that was named after him. It’s named after Halley because he calculated the comet’s orbit. Edmund stated that the same comet was seen every 76 years due to the orbit Edmund Halley died in 1742 and wasn’t able to see his theory come true.
